Prof. Gertjan Kaspers is director of the Academy & Outreach of the Princess Máxima Centre. In addition to being a trainer and expert in the field of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), he is responsible for the Outreach Programme, which aims to improve care for children with cancer in low- and middle-income countries. To his credit, he wants to improve both the care and quality of life of children with cancer in the Netherlands, as well as in countries with fewer resources. For example, he co-founded World Child Cancer The Netherlands in 2017 and is still its president. In addition, he organises the Princess Máxima Centre Preceptorship in which knowledge is shared about the treatment of childhood cancer with paediatric oncologists (in training) all over the world.
