Prof. Michel Zwaan is head of the trial and data centre at the Princess Máxima Centre. Michel was trained as a paediatric oncologist at the then VUMC, then became a professor of paediatric oncology with an emphasis on paediatric drug development and head of the paediatric oncology department at Erasmus MC. After the founding of the Princess Máxima Centre, he remained a consultant for the Sophia Children's Hospital in Rotterdam. He is also a member of the Erasmus MC Ethics Committee. He has earned his stripes in research into new medicines for paediatric cancer, including as director of the Early Clinical Trial Consortium of the DCOG (Dutch Childhood Oncology Group) and as a consultant at the centre for Patient Oriented Research of Erasmus MC. He is currently involved as PI or coordinator in dozens of national and international phase I/II and phase III studies.
