On 1 November 2020, Prof. Alwin Huitema, hospital pharmacist and clinical pharmacologist at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek (AvL), came to work part-time at the Princess Máxima Centre. Together with hospital pharmacist Dr Lidwien Hanff, he is further expanding pharmacological research for children with cancer. The appointment will intensify the collaboration with the AvL and integrate the knowledge of adult oncology with paediatric oncology. 

Prof. Alwin Huitema is among others member of the Medical Ethics Committee of the Netherlands Cancer Institute/Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital, member of the working group Oncology and Hematology of “Horizonscan Geneesmiddelen Zorginstituut Nederland” and Board member of Dutch Society of Clinical Pharmacology & Biopharmacy

Dr. Lidwien Hanff is the head of the Prinsess Máxima Center pharmacy, specialized in pediatric clinical pharmacology and development of pediatric formulations of drugs.  She is currently member of the Medical Ethics Committee of University Medical Centre Utrecht, the Central Board of Dutch Childhood Oncology Group and the Scientific Advisory Board of Kiddy Good Pills.
