Episode 4
Season 7
Green Book
"You never win with violence. You only win when you maintain your dignity."
The Film Board spent the holiday weekend giving thanks and watching Green Book, a dramedy based on the true story of master pianist Dr. Don Shirley touring the American deep south in the 1960s. It’s back-to-back biopics for our guys with similar historical time focus as well. This movie highlights individual struggles to understand identity and build unity as America was on its way to take profoundly progressive steps for civil rights.
On this show, you’ll hear Steve Sarmento, Pete Wright, and Justin 'JJ' Jaeger talk about how stories of revolutionary courage in the 60's could help us overcome our divided interactions today. The feel good vibes in this film may encourage you to address them in a way that moves the discussion forward without avoiding the conflict altogether. We might need some more drama when the stories are this important. Click along to listen to our takes and then let us know how it goes for you!
