In this episode  Dr. Jenny Hobson will be interviewing Dr. Karen Parker Davidson, RN, an expert in rhinomanometry. Rhinomanometry measures air pressure and the rate of airflow during breathing. These measurements are then used to calculate nasal airway resistance which is important in the field of airway treatment.  So many of us don’t realize that our noses are actually the problem, and we need to work on improving the ability to breathe out of it.  Many of us have a bend in our nose called a deviated septum which narrows our nasal passages.  Slowly but surely, this causes us to breathe through our mouth and the beginning of an airway compromise.

BIO: Dr. Karen Davidson has held many positions in the medical device industry for more than 25 years, specifically in the ENT and Sleep markets, in addition to more than 30 years of clinical experience including service as a Flight Nurse in the United States Air Force Reserves and committee member for various Otolaryngology meetings. Dr. Davidson serves as the Vice President at GM Instruments, Ltd. with a special interest in and published on the technology of objective nasal measurements, nasal physiology, clinical application, reimbursement, health economics, and health policy. 

Dr.  Davidson is a national speaker for the series “The Nose Knows: Nasal Function and Resistance”.  She is a co-author of three books and currently writing as a contributing author in a pediatric airway book on nasal function and resistance for release in 2022 and 2023.

Dr. Jenny Hobson is a head and neck, TMJ physical therapist,  protégé of renowned expert, Dr. Mariano Rocabado.  She is known for her treatment of TMJ, sleep disordered breathing, chronic headaches, concussion, neck pain, tinnitus, and postural dysfunctions.    Dr. Hobson is trained in myofunctional therapy and is certified in the Buteyko Breathing Method.  She treats in-person in Chicago and trains breathing virtually to those in need in the US, Europe and South America through the Hobson Institute.
