Why it matters: homecoming is where HBCU football, culture and business meet, and this episode connects all three — the games, the crowds, and the economic impact on the communities around them. Jackson State trailed the Rattlers 17–12 in the third quarter, then scored 15 unanswered points to win 27–17 and improve to 6–1 overall (3–1 in SWAC play). Around the board: Alabama A&M put 61 on Grambling State, Howard beat Morehouse 31–17, Tennessee State handled Morgan State 25–6, and Bethune-Cookman topped Mississippi Valley State 34–14. Cheeks in the Seats attendance leaders: Jackson State 44,173; Alabama A&M vs. Grambling State 14,000; Howard vs. Morehouse nearly 10,000. Sheena also gives women athletes their flowers across volleyball, soccer and cross country, names Dr. Mon'nique Smith (Hampton University professor, former St. Paul's College SID) her Queen of the Week, and previews NC A&T women's basketball — opening Nov. 2 vs. Wingate, with Nebraska (Nov. 10), Navy (Nov. 20) and a Dec. 16 rivalry date with North Carolina Central on the calendar. Plus: Jackson State's history and legacy (founded 1877), the Sonic Boom of the South, and the business of homecoming.
