But it's the truth. These days, I plan things out with AI, and it handles the implementation. We even have agents reviewing other agents' code and fixing bugs while I sleep.\nIt’s incredible to watch, but it also means I've automated away the parts of the job I used to love the most - like falling down a rabbit hole to debug a tricky issue.\nIt got me thinking: if agents are doing the heavy lifting, do we still need to understand every single line of code? Or is the job of a software engineer just moving up a level?\nI wrote down some thoughts on this shift, what we're gaining, and what we might be letting go of.","thumbnail_url":"https://img.transistorcdn.com/KhCapPSRkLGL2Xw8888yuChkNRWthaKapLYTvNdu4W4/rs:fill:0:0:1/w:400/h:400/q:60/mb:500000/aHR0cHM6Ly9pbWct/dXBsb2FkLXByb2R1/Y3Rpb24udHJhbnNp/c3Rvci5mbS9zaG93/LzQxMTY2LzE2ODM1/ODIzMzAtYXJ0d29y/ay5qcGc.webp","thumbnail_width":300,"thumbnail_height":300}
