She holds a master's degree in international emergency and disaster management from Georgetown University, and two bachelor's degrees from the University of Utah in political science and international studies. She is a U.S. Fulbright Alumni Ambassador, has trained with UN Women and UNITAR on gender and disaster response across the Pacific, and contributed research for a Parliament for Women report through the Office of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga.\n\nKey Points\n\n• Framing a case as a transnational marriage dispute instead of trafficking moves the blame onto the women.
