He holds a B.S. from Howard Payne University, a J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington. We reconnect 20 years after I sat in his political science class at DBU.\nWe talk about his path from UT Law and the mortgage industry into higher education, what teaching is actually like, and how he keeps students engaged when most people would rather avoid politics altogether. We get into political philosophy, ideology assessments that surprise people, and why “conservative vs. liberal” is too small a box for what people actually believe.\nWe cover why politics feels more like a reality show than a debate of ideas, steelman arguments, how to use AI without letting it do your thinking for you, and how to consume news in the age of algorithms. We also talk about The Federalist Papers, The Anti-Federalist Papers, The Road to Serfdom, and other resources for brushing up on the American system, plus advice for idealistic young people considering law school or public service and how faith should (and shouldn’t) interact with political engagement.\nA must-listen for students, pastors, teachers, and anyone trying to think more clearly about government, news, and public life without getting swallowed by the noise.\nDr. Sullivan’s website: http://drrobsullivan.com/\nDr. Sullivan’s podcast: Wonkeyfied ","thumbnail_url":"https://img.transistorcdn.com/OrXndCzRXnPn3duqLhroa0wN9qsIXhCuGQd0iH_U13g/rs:fill:0:0:1/w:400/h:400/q:60/mb:500000/aHR0cHM6Ly9pbWct/dXBsb2FkLXByb2R1/Y3Rpb24udHJhbnNp/c3Rvci5mbS82NTlh/NDM1MGIwNDFhOWY0/ZTgzZjA1ZWExZTYz/YWM5Ny5wbmc.webp","thumbnail_width":300,"thumbnail_height":300}
