The real issue is structural: event contracts settle on interpreted outcomes, not objective data, which creates ambiguity the ETF wrapper concentrates rather than resolves. There's also a jurisdiction gap between the CFTC, which oversees the underlying platforms, and the SEC, which oversees the fund. Neither agency has worked out what happens when those frameworks collide during a contested resolution with retail money already in the fund.
