Not the book or the framework itself, but the way you make things, and you have probably run it several times in several different mediums without ever stopping to give it a name.\nMy guest this week is David Peck. David is a designer who has spent twenty years in fashion and owns a boutique in Houston, and before any of that there was a degree in classical cello, a job at Ralph Lauren, and five years in Paris. He hosts a podcast, and his first book, Artful, comes out on November 11th. We started working together in the fall of 2025 and he has been in my strategic advisory group ever since. David is a builder. He has made and created so many things over the course of his life, and he comes from a world most people would not traditionally connect to thought leadership, which is part of why I wanted this conversation on the show. His primary archetype is Resonant Orator at 58%, with Category Creator right behind it at 39%, and thirty percent is the mark where I start paying attention to an archetype at all. Both of those are carrying real signal, and it is a combination I do not see often: the speaker who is also creative enough to want to solve a problem by building a new category for it.\nHere is what I want you to listen for. David held the title of his first book for eleven years. That book, a memoir, is outlined and mostly written and essentially ready to go, and he made the decision to set it aside and lead with a different book instead. Things solidified for him around November and December, by February he was writing, and his book Artful comes out this fall. He did all of it alongside the store and a more than full-time day job, without blowing any of it up.\nIMPACT POINTS FROM THIS EPISODE:\n\n⚡ You already have a process. You just have not named it yet. — The framework in David's book is assemble, refine, try. He did not sit down and design it. It surfaced partway through him describing it...","thumbnail_url":"https://img.transistorcdn.com/SuaTMrpDv3ElcaZUKJp722xS29USHZM_QOCShiJjgJ8/rs:fill:0:0:1/w:400/h:400/q:60/mb:500000/aHR0cHM6Ly9pbWct/dXBsb2FkLXByb2R1/Y3Rpb24udHJhbnNp/c3Rvci5mbS9kYTIz/NGI5ODJiOTQ4MDk2/NjYwNGU4NzkwNTAx/MTgxOC5wbmc.webp","thumbnail_width":300,"thumbnail_height":300}
