Likewise, the purpose of receiving the Torah at Mount Sinai was not simply to acquire knowledge, but to establish an everlasting relationship with Hashem. Every mitzvah reconnects us to that covenant and strengthens that bond.\nThe lesson concludes by describing three levels of fear. The lowest level is serving Hashem because of concern for what other people think. A higher level is serving Hashem out of fear of punishment. The highest and purest level is serving Hashem solely because He is Hashem—out of love, awe, gratitude, and a sincere desire to fulfill His will.
