He discusses the growing power of the abolitionist movement, attacks Chief Justice Roger B. Taney’s reasoning, and argues that the decision cannot ultimately defeat the cause of freedom.\nDouglass also makes a remarkable constitutional argument. Rather than rejecting the Constitution as a pro-slavery document, he argues that its principles of liberty and justice can—and should—be used against slavery.\nHost & Narrator: Will Sarris\nFollow us on social media!\nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61586175179173\nThreads: https://www.threads.com/@creatingamericapod\nInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/creatingamericapod\n📩 Contact: CreatingAmericaPod@gmail.com\n💬 Support the show: patreon.com/williamsarris\n🌐 More about Will: williamsarris.net\n#FrederickDouglass #DredScott #AmericanHistory #CreatingAmerica #Slavery #Abolition #HistoryPodcast #SupremeCourt #AmericanHistoryPodcast","thumbnail_url":"https://img.transistorcdn.com/pRI2_ctAqlURX_7yVg9g9PpW5jumJPPNdMjBP63RAeI/rs:fill:0:0:1/w:400/h:400/q:60/mb:500000/aHR0cHM6Ly9pbWct/dXBsb2FkLXByb2R1/Y3Rpb24udHJhbnNp/c3Rvci5mbS8xNjI4/YTk4MjUxZmQ0MDQw/ZTAyMzVjZGE5NDMz/NzE4Yi5qcGc.webp","thumbnail_width":300,"thumbnail_height":300}
