More often than not, it's because they were promoted for being great individual contributors and never actually taught how to lead — so holding onto the work feels safer than handing it off. If you're a business owner, HR leader, or executive who wants to see your best people thrive after you promote them, this episode is for you.\r\n\r\nYou know, I've spent almost twenty years coming alongside organizations that promote folks before they're ready. Here's what I've seen: your top performer gets the promotion as a reward, but nobody shows them how to let go. They fear the work won't get done right, they fear looking replaceable, they fear slowing down to teach when it feels faster to just do it themselves. That fear isn't a character flaw — it's a development gap. And it's one you can close.\r\n\r\nIn this episode I walk through why that fear shows up, what it costs your team and your culture, and the practical first steps to help a new manager delegate with confidence instead of white-knuckling every task. We'll talk leadership development, building a real leadership pipeline, and the simple truth that delegation is a skill you can train — one that, done well, snowballs into better communication at work and at home.\r\n\r\nI'm Brian Brandt, founder of Core Insights here in Tyler, Texas.
