She acknowledges the “line between living your life and also recognizing that [she] wanted to compete at the highest level possible” (13:57). Once entering the powerlifting arena, she was “absolutely addicted from day one” (6:52). She found a community around powerlifting and gained a sense of fulfillment in the competition atmosphere. She believes that we need to “recognize our bodies for what they are able to do and perform for us” (8:52). Teresa makes real connections in this episode with her unfiltered honesty.\nTeresa has overcome body dysmorphia and physical injuries throughout the course of her career. She was able to accept the fact that she needed more than just the sport and that it could not be her “everything” (34:09).
