Searching a broad trade category returns tree services when you want turf installers, and personal trainers when you want sports physiotherapists. This episode walks through a real, working method from a post by Mike Lovatt on the B2B Sales subreddit in October 2026. It uses three tools: Claude as a desktop app or through Claude Code, DataForSEO for pulling Google Maps results through its official MCP server, and Hunter for finding and verifying email addresses on business websites. New DataForSEO accounts get one dollar of free trial credit, enough for a few Google Maps searches. Hunter's free plan gives 50 verification credits a month. Total cost: roughly one dollar for a first test list.\nThe method has three steps. Connect Claude to DataForSEO by pasting your API login into DataForSEO's MCP server guide, titled Connect Claude to DataForSEO MCP. Then ask Claude to pull the businesses you want, for example: \"Using DataForSEO, find artificial turf installation businesses on Google Maps in the Bay Area. Give me the name, website, phone, rating and review count in a table.\" Search the exact trade, not the category. Lovatt tested this directly. Searching \"landscapers in San Jose\" returned 50 businesses: 19 were tree services and only 11 mentioned turf anywhere on their site. Widening to the Bay Area and searching the exact trade produced 36 real turf companies, 22 that mentioned turf on their own site, and zero tree services. Of the 36, only 9 listed an owner's name. The rest had shared inboxes. Write your outreach for whoever opens a shared inbox, not a named individual. Run every website through Hunter before you send anything. Skipping verification is the fastest way to get your domain flagged. Cold email to businesses must follow the rules where you send, including an easy opt-out, a real sender address, and no misleading subject lines.
