Instead, attendee after attendee described a mindset shift. In this episode I unpack what that shift actually looks like: ignoring guru rules that come from fear, trusting that the algorithm knows your audience, and reframing content from a chore into something you get to learn and enjoy. It also sets up November in the Studio, which is going to be all about mindset.\nKey Points\nThe retreat surprise: I played the audio from Kerrie’s retreat recap because she explains it better than I can. She went to New York thinking she needed to learn how to create content and came home realizing she didn’t need to become someone else, she just needed to trust her own ideas. She came home ready to be a better creator, not a better copier.\nTactics aren’t the main blocker: some creators do need editing help, but I don’t think most are stuck because of editing. What I’ve learned over the years is that sometimes the least edited content does better than the stuff we curate so carefully.\nMyth I tested: “Don’t post outside your niche, it confuses the algorithm.” While I was traveling, I posted travel clips, dances, and city to city transitions. When I moved from Italy to France, even my For You page changed with me. The algorithm is smarter than most of us.\nMy rotation strategy: I batch created tutorials before the trip and made sure one went into the rotation about every four videos, like I always do. Every single time, the tutorial is what got the views. My off topic posts didn’t confuse anything, because the algorithm still favors what my audience followed me for.\nWhy I rotate tutorials in: if someone new finds me through a tutorial and has to scroll through 20 videos to get to the next lesson, they’re not going to bother with me.\nCommitment to your craft = having fun: I make sure I’m enjoying it, and I make sure I’m delivering what my audience followed me for.
