Teacher Duncan here. I hope you are having a wonderful day. Today, I am sharing my big plans for this coming weekend. I am packing my bags and heading north to Taipei!But this isn't a normal holiday. I am going to Taipei for a very special mission. I am participating in a beach cleanup. Do you know what a beach cleanup is? It is when a group of volunteers—people who work for free to help the community—go to the ocean to pick up trash and plastic. We are going to a beach just outside of Taipei City to help clean the coast.I decided to do this because I love the ocean, but every time I visit the beach, I see plastic bottles, plastic bags, and old fishing nets in the sand. This litter is very dangerous for sea animals, like turtles and fish. So, on Saturday morning, I will put on my thick gloves, take a giant trash bag, and use metal tongs to pick up as much garbage as I can. It is hard work, and your back gets quite tired from bending down, but it feels amazing to see the beach looking beautiful and clean at the end of the day.Now, since I am already in the area, I don't want to just go home right after the cleanup! Taipei is a huge, exciting city, so I plan to stay for the rest of the weekend to do some sightseeing. Sightseeing means traveling around a city to look at famous places and landmarks.First on my list is Taipei 101. Even though I have seen it before, I never get tired of looking at it. It looks like a giant green bamboo stalk reaching into the clouds! If the weather is clear, I might take the super-fast elevator to the top floor to look at the whole city.Second, I am a huge foodie, so I cannot leave Taipei without eating a hot bowl of traditional Taiwanese beef noodles.
