The Crow Cohort of the Seminary Of The Wild is beginning our two year journey together while Victoria finishes the draft of her next book. So we've chosen to re-release a pair of our favorite episodes from our inaugural season.\n=======\nIn this conversation, Debra Rienstra, PhD, author of Refugia Faith and professor of English at Calvin University, joins Victoria Loorz to explore refugia, a biological term for small pockets of life that survive widespread environmental stress and become sources of regeneration after collapse. Debra invites us to imagine these protected pockets are also in our communities as forms of sanctuary amid increasingly uninhabitable social, spiritual, and ecological conditions. Together, they reflect on how small gatherings rooted in love for the land can counter paralysis in the face of global crisis and rewild our sense of vocation and voice. They explore the spiritual risk of loving places we may not own or keep, while naming how restoration begins through intimate, connected acts of care that allow life to persist and return.\n\nConnect with Debra:\nWebsite: debrarienstra.com\nBook: Refugia Faith: Seeking Hidden Shelters, Ordinary Wonders, and the Healing of the Earth\nNewsletter: refugianewsletter.substack.com\nUpcoming Book: Refugia Church (January 2027)\nMentioned in the episode:\nBook: Great Tide Rising: Towards Clarity and Moral Courage in a time of Planetary Change by Kathleen Dean Moore\nOrganization: blackchurchfoodsecurity.net\nBook: Here Comes the Sun: A Last Chance for the Climate and a Fresh Chance for Civilization by Bill McKibben\nEncyclical Letter Laudato Si' of the Holy Father Francis on Care For Our Common Home\nEncyclical Letter Fratelli Tutti of the Holy Father Francis on Fraternity and Social Friendship\nConnect with the Center:\nWebsite: wildspirituality.earth\nVictoria's Website:...","thumbnail_url":"https://img.transistorcdn.com/7HzH9zp06kPt1-QRAfelWzEF5snXN59veGgjaerriqo/rs:fill:0:0:1/w:400/h:400/q:60/mb:500000/aHR0cHM6Ly9pbWct/dXBsb2FkLXByb2R1/Y3Rpb24udHJhbnNp/c3Rvci5mbS84ZjAz/YTRjNTQ0YTQ0YmE5/ODgzYjA2MTM2NjEw/NzJmZi5wbmc.webp","thumbnail_width":300,"thumbnail_height":300}
