The Gospel of John was written by John the Apostle who had a very close relationship with Jesus. Due to his close relationship with Jesus John’s Gospel is also written in a very relational way. John’s states his purpose for writing the Gospel in Jn 20:31 where he says he wrote it “so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
The Gospel of John is full of Christ’s miracles proving Jesus was the Messiah, but it is also filled with people having significant encounters with Jesus. One of those encounters was with a Pharisee and member of the Sanhedrin, Nicodemus. His curiosity drew him out at night to meet with Jesus who took time with him, taught him, and pointed him from the darkness into the light.
