योग्यः उत्तराधिकारी

कस्यचित् राज्यस्य महाराजस्य त्रयः पुत्राः आसन् । तेषु कस्मै देयम् इति प्रश्ने मन्त्रिणा सूचितं यत् अपत्यानि परीक्षितव्यानि इति । अपरस्मिन् दिने पुत्रान् आहूय शतं रूप्यकाणि दत्त्वा सायङ्कालाभ्यन्तरे स्वप्रासादः पूरणीयः इति अवदत् राजा ।  प्रथमः पुत्रः, तैः रूप्यकैः इष्टानि वस्तूनि क्रीतवान् ।  द्वितीयः पुत्रः पितुः आज्ञा पालनीया एव इति धिया धूल्या प्रासादम् अपूरयत् । तृतीयः पुत्रः चतुरः आसीत् । सः केन प्रासादं पूरितवान् यत् दृष्ट्वा राजा सः एव राज्यस्य उत्तराधिकारी भवितुम् अर्हति इति निश्चिनोति ? इति सर्वं कथां श्रुत्वा जानन्तु ।
