उत्कृष्टं प्रशासनं कीदृशम्?

राजसूययगानन्तरं महता दानेन धर्मराजस्य मनसि अहं महादाता अस्मि इति भावः आगतः। एतत् अवगतेन श्रीकृष्णेन धर्मराजस्य एतं भावम् अपनेतुम् इच्छता सः बलिचक्रिवर्तिनः आस्थानं प्रति नीतः । कृष्णं दृष्ट्वा हर्षेण स्वागतवचनानि उक्त्वा बलिः अपृच्छत् 'आगमनावसरे भवता किमर्थम् अयम् अयोग्यः राजा अपि आनीतः' इति । कृष्णः 'एषः महान् दानशूरः अस्ति' इति यदा प्रत्युत्तरति तदा बलिः वदति 'मम राज्ये मदीयैः जनैः गृहं गृहं गत्वा दानं स्वीकरणीयम् इति प्रार्थ्यते चेदपि दानस्वीकर्तारः विरलाः एव प्राप्यन्ते यतः अन्यस्मात् स्वीकरणं न उचितम् इति । किन्तु एतस्य राज्ये तु जनाः वार्ताश्रवणमात्रेण एव दानस्वीकरणाय धावन्तः आयान्ति' इति । एतत् श्रुत्वा धर्मराजः लज्जया शिरः अवनमय्य अतिष्ठत् ।

After the Rajasuya sacrifice, Dharmaraja (Yudhishthira) felt proud, thinking, “I am a great giver.” Lord Krishna, noticing this pride and wishing to eliminate it, took him to the court of King Bali. King Bali warmly welcomed Krishna and then asked, “Why have you brought this unworthy king along?” When Krishna replied, “He is a great donor,” Bali responded, “In my kingdom, even when my people go door to door requesting others to accept gifts, very few agree—because accepting without need is not proper. But in his kingdom, people rush to accept gifts merely upon hearing about them.” Hearing this, Dharmaraja felt ashamed and stood with his head bowed.

सम्भाषणसन्देशः इति संस्कृतमासिकपत्रिका (https://sambhashanasandesha.in) । एतस्यां पत्रिकायां प्रकाशिताः लेखाः, कथाः, बालकथाः, वार्ताः इत्यादिकं सर्वम् अपि सरलसंस्कृतेन एव प्रकाश्यते । तत्रत्याः “बालमोदिनी”नामिकाः बालकथाः अत्र प्रसार्यन्ते । अतः अस्याः शृङ्खलायाः नाम अपि “बालमोदिनी” एव । लघु गात्रं, सरला भाषा च कथानां विशेषः । प्रत्येकं कथा काञ्चित् नीतिं बोधयति । बालकथाः आबालवृद्धं सर्वेषां प्रियाः । संस्कृतेन ताः श्रोतुम् उपलब्धाः भवन्तु इति एषः प्रयत्नः श्रोतृभ्यः अवश्यं रोचेत इति विश्वासः । संस्कृतक्षेत्रे संस्कृतेन पॉड्कास्ट् क्रियमाणाः एताः प्रप्रथमाः कथाः इति सगौरवम् उद्घोष्यते ।
