September 9, 2021--Steve and Annie talk with Ashik Siddique of the Institute for Policy Studies. He co-authored a study on military spending, which is more holistic than the conventional studies. It reaches into Homeland Security, ICE, and other agencies that are actually quite militarized. If you look at it that way, the 6 trillion dollars we spend on military turns out to be more like 21 trillion. He also connects that militarized culture to current social divisions, the rise of white supremacists for example.
