Christendom Conversations

Dr. Stephen Barr, theoretical physicist and cosmologist joins Dr. George Harne to explore the relationship between science and faith. Dr. Barr delves into the ways that the Catholic Faith relates to science, as well as many of the great figures of the Scientific Revolution and the ways modern scientific discoveries have challenged a strictly materialistic picture of reality. He discusses the Big Bang and the origins of the universe, the apparent fine-tuning of the laws of physics, and the important distinction between fine-tuning and the Intelligent Design movement.

Dr. Barr also explores quantum mechanics and free will, fundamental physics, and the deep philosophical questions about the universe. Drawing on thinkers from both the past and today, Dr. Barr considers what the laws of physics can and cannot explain.
