प्रजाहितचिन्तकः देवापिः

पूर्वं कश्चन प्रतीपनामा राजा आसीत् यस्य देवापिः, शन्तनुः, बाह्लीकः चेति त्रयः पुत्राः आसन् । ज्येष्ठः देवापिः श्वेतकुष्ठरोगग्रस्तः इति कारणतः प्रतीपे दिवङ्गते द्वितीयः पुत्रः शन्तनुः सिंहासनम् आरूढवान् । शन्तनुः यद्यपि धर्मेण एव राज्यं पालितवान् तथापि द्वादशवर्षाणि यावत् वृष्टिः एव न जाता । कारणम् आसीत् यत् ज्येष्ठपुत्रे सति अनन्तरजः सिंहासनम् आरूढवान् यत् तत् धर्मलोपाय । इदम् एव क्षामस्य कारणम् इति । सिंहासनाधिकारः न प्राप्तः चेदपि अल्पम् अपि खेदम् अप्राप्नुवन् देवापिः क्षामनिवारणाय राजधानीम् आगत्य यागं निवर्तितवान् । सन्तुष्टः इन्द्रः‌ वृष्टिम् अकरोत् ।

King Pratipa had three sons: Devapi, Santanu, and Bahlika. Though Devapi was the eldest, he suffered from leprosy, so after Pratipa’s death, Santanu ascended the throne. Santanu ruled righteously, yet for twelve years, no rain fell. The reason: the throne had passed to a younger son while the elder was still alive — a violation of dharma. Despite being denied kingship, Devapi bore no resentment. To end the drought, he came to the capital and performed a sacred ritual. Pleased, Indra sent rain, restoring prosperity.

सम्भाषणसन्देशः इति संस्कृतमासिकपत्रिका (https://sambhashanasandesha.in) । एतस्यां पत्रिकायां प्रकाशिताः लेखाः, कथाः, बालकथाः, वार्ताः इत्यादिकं सर्वम् अपि सरलसंस्कृतेन एव प्रकाश्यते । तत्रत्याः “बालमोदिनी”नामिकाः बालकथाः अत्र प्रसार्यन्ते । अतः अस्याः शृङ्खलायाः नाम अपि “बालमोदिनी” एव । लघु गात्रं, सरला भाषा च कथानां विशेषः । प्रत्येकं कथा काञ्चित् नीतिं बोधयति । बालकथाः आबालवृद्धं सर्वेषां प्रियाः । संस्कृतेन ताः श्रोतुम् उपलब्धाः भवन्तु इति एषः प्रयत्नः श्रोतृभ्यः अवश्यं रोचेत इति विश्वासः । संस्कृतक्षेत्रे संस्कृतेन पॉड्कास्ट् क्रियमाणाः एताः प्रप्रथमाः कथाः इति सगौरवम् उद्घोष्यते ।
