Welcome to episode #117! In this episode the guys discuss how and what to talk about in regards to sex, when you are dating or engaged.
As a single
When we are single, the conversations we need to have about sex are in regards to our own values. What are our values, do they align with God's design for sex, and if they do how do we build healthy boundaries so that we choose to live out of said values?
In dating
When we are dating, it is important that we understand what dating is and what it isn't. Dating is primarily about gathering information about our boyfriend or girlfriend, so that we can make the best decision if they are the one we will marry. With that in mind, the conversations we have about sex with our dating partner need to be about what our values are, and what they need to know about us (past sexual experiences (not specific details but if we have had sex), pornography etc). We need to gather information and provide information in this stage of a relationship, so our conversations about sex needs to have that understanding.
In engagement
Once we are engaged, the conversation moves from information gathering to building our future together and entering into marriage as open and honest as we can be. Part of this includes talking about our expectations regarding sex, our desires for sex, and learning to be safe with one another in talking about sex.
