Show Notes

As broadcast June 2, 2021 with bonus footage for you podcast theatergoers.  We took a trip to Angola for this week's Round Trip with Lizz Kalo, a fascinating country in the anti-colonial liberation struggle and one that paid very dearly to hold onto its ideals in four decades of liberation struggles & ceaseless, vicious civil war.  Through it all, Angola's people have been making some amazing music, with modern adaptations of kizomba, samba, and other influences dotting Angolan music.  We tried to cover it all on tonight's show...the old school heroes that didn't make it, the up-and-coming artists making noise, along with some of the true royalty of the game in Luanda.  Lizz also has Angolan roots so this was a special show for both of us, which was proven when Lizz fires Danno at the end of part 4.
