Impact in Action

In this second chapter of our literacy mini-series, we’re back in Utah, where a bold statewide goal is in motion: get 70% of third-grade students reading at grade level by 2027. But how do you take that goal and turn it into real change? We find out in this episode of Impact in Action.

Today, we catch up with the Utah State Board of Education’s Savannah Hunt and Susie Estrada, and we lift the curtain on MGT’s contribution to SB127. We are joined by Sarah Iannucci, an education consultant from MGT, to discuss tangible solutions to engage better with students, at school or at home. Together, we draw a simple but powerful roadmap for educators and families.

Part 2 of our Literacy Crisis series is a lesson in how communities can come together to improve outcomes for children. From the science of reading to change management and family engagement, find out how statewide education reform happens, one step at a time.

What is Impact in Action?

When we think of social change, our minds often go to protests, new laws, or stories of redemption and social justice. And social change is all those things. But often, it's also a long process where a community comes together, looks for solutions, and learns through trial and error.

Welcome to Impact in Action by MGT. On this podcast, we dive into the real stories behind every social impact solution.

From the vibrant heart of Baltimore to the rural depths of North Dakota, we discover what really goes into social innovation and community development. We ask the critical questions:
• What can we do to create economic empowerment across our local communities?
• How do we improve our schools to offer young people a better start in life?
• How do we help veterans transition their skillset to find the right job in their new life?
• How can we help those who manage our local communities provide for their community more efficiently?

Our guests step up to the microphone to reflect on their work, whether they're government professionals, social impact advisors, community engagement officers, or members of the public on a mission. They share their expertise and insights, show us what social impact looks like in the real world, and share their personal stories of empowerment.

Technology solutions, school transformation, or human capital solutions - a lot goes into social impact work. So, whether you're seeking advice to support local communities or you want to untangle key issues enabling economic empowerment, Impact in Action will help you grab the tools you need for yourself and your organization.
