We explore and discuss Gaming Addiction in a special two-part episode. Gaming Addiction is a controversial topic not only for parents but for the gaming industry as well. Our group has an admittedly biased opinion regarding gaming addiction and it's labeling of a mental disorder. Embark on this quest with us as we discover the difference between hardcore gamers and a legitimate Gaming Addiction.
Although the DSM (The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) currently does not recognize gaming addiction as a mental disorder. The World Health Organization defines a gaming disorder or addiction as.."a pattern of gaming behavior (“digital-gaming” or “video-gaming”) characterized by impaired control over gaming, increasing priority given to gaming over other activities to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other interests and daily activities, and continuation or escalation of gaming despite the occurrence of negative consequences."
