When it comes to jobs, the most anticipated number comes from The Labor Department and it arrives tomorrow. 325,000 is the prediction with a dip to 3.5% unemployment. If that holds, it’ll be the lowest level since the beginning of the pandemic. But what about private payrolls? Today’s ADP report showed only 128,000 jobs were filled—far off the prediction of 300,000. There isn’t a hiring issue in the country, per se, there are plenty of open jobs. The issue is FILLING those jobs. Small biz is hit the hardest—especially at places employing less than 19 people where it’s too expensive to attract and hire new talent. Businesses over 500 or more workers hired the most new employees. Most gains were with service providers followed by professional and business services, trades, and leisure.
