Shalom and welcome to today’s dose of daily wisdom. Did you ever rush to complete a mitzvah, thinking you’re doing something fantastic, only to stumble and maybe even cause harm? The Rambam, in Hilchot Lulav 8:15, teaches us the importance of calmness even when performing a mitzvah. He compares rushing with the Lulav to a servant hastily greeting his master, potentially spilling a drink on him. Just like a servant’s excitement shouldn’t overshadow respect and decorum, our enthusiasm in fulfilling mitzvot should never compromise composure and thoughtfulness.
