Doing The Most

In various spaces, although I was welcomed and embraced there was always a looming sense of “I am an outsider, I don't belong here”. This feeling brought on a huge sense of loneliness in my life. I was surrounded by people externally but internally I felt alone.

Once I was able to call myself out on this feeling I started to dive into solutions to get out of my head. And eventually out of my own way. In this episode, I dive into the importance of feeling a true sense of belonging and community in your life.

While on this journey I started reading about Belonging and Community. One of my favorite books that I read specifically on this topic was Braving the Wilderness by Brene Brown. In the book, Brene Brown quoted Maya Angelou “You are only free when you realize you belong no place you belong every place, no place at all. The price is high the reward is great”. This quote has truly revolutionized the way I look at and think about belonging and community.

What is Doing The Most?

In our modern day lens, entrepreneurship has become a huge trend. People fantasize over quitting their jobs, becoming their own boss, and gaining financial freedom. Everyone wants to be the next Steve Jobs, Oprah or Jeff Bezos. We get caught up with social influencers and billion-dollar startups aka the land of fairies and unicorns. People often forget the time, energy and money that gets invested into earning these magical moments. The nights spent crying, waking up to negative bank account balances, spats of depression, or working 22 hour work days. All entrepreneurs go through phases of misadventures. We are driven, persistent, hardworking, ambitious, we are doers, and these are our stories.
