मानवेषु आशा भवेत् नाम किन्तु दुराशा कदापि न भवेत् । कदाचित् दुराशाकारणत: यद्यद् लब्धं  तत् सर्वं विलुप्तं भवितुम् अर्हति । इयमेव गति: कश्चन निर्धनस्य जाता अस्यां कथायाम् ।

Among humans, hope is natural, but false or excessive desire should never arise. Often, because of such misguided desire, whatever has been gained may be lost entirely. This was the fate of a poor man in the story.
