This week on Kalam Astro, host Alya Al-Nuaimi brings you a thrilling mix of breaking space industry news, mind-bending cosmic science, and a practical stargazing guide for UAE skywatchers — all in one packed episode!
We kick off with a landmark announcement: Blue Origin has secured a $700 million contract with NASA to build the Mars Telecommunications Network (MTN) — a powerful communication satellite that will orbit Mars and relay data from spacecraft and rovers back to Earth. This is a game-changer for deep space exploration, and a major step toward a permanent human presence on the Red Planet.
Then we dive deep into black holes — and discover they may not be what scientists once thought. New research suggests black holes might be significantly less massive than previously calculated. Even more exciting: scientists may have detected the very first real evidence of dark matter, hiding in faint X-ray emissions from black holes. If confirmed, this would be one of the greatest discoveries in the history of physics.
Alya also takes us on a tour of the James Webb Space Telescope's latest revelations about the early universe — peering back billions of years to study how the very first black holes formed and grew, revealing surprises that challenge our most fundamental theories.
And for UAE stargazers, September is a spectacular month! Five planets are simultaneously lighting up the night sky — visible to the naked eye or with a small telescope. Alya shares the best spots to catch this rare alignment, including the Mleiha Archaeological Centre and Al Badayer Desert.
Tune in, look up, and keep exploring with Kalam Astro! 🌌
