Reading 2 Kings Chapter 15

Sixteen year old Azariah's 52 year reign in Judah is summarized (there are more details in 2 Chronicles 26), and the mayhem going on in Israel during his reign is compared to his timeline. Menahem, king of Israel, pays a huge 30 metric tons of gold to Pul king of Assyria by levying a tax of 1.1 pounds of gold each from the wealthy men of Israel. About 11 years and two kings of Israel later, Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria takes captives of many people in the northern regions of Israel. After Azariah/Uzziah's 52 years, his son Jotham reigns for 16 years, mostly following Yahweh. Read from the World English Bible.
