Auntie Talk has officially hit EPISODE 20!
Jennifer and Shera celebrate the milestone with longtime friend Kim for an unfiltered conversation about money, relationships, identity, culture, sports and what it really means to live with Auntie energy.
The conversation starts with the ultimate soft-life question: If someone paid ALL of your bills and gave you a $5,000 monthly allowance, would that be enough? That leads to a deeper discussion about financial freedom, saving, entrepreneurship, traveling the world and creating a life where your time truly belongs to you.
Kim also opens up about being a masculine-presenting lesbian woman, dating feminine women, being pursued versus doing the pursuing, commitment, friendships and why she is currently focused more on community, personal growth and financial freedom than romantic relationships.
Then things get HEATED.
As a Division I basketball referee and member of the LGBTQ+ community, Kim joins Jennifer and Shera for a wide-ranging conversation about transgender athletes, fairness and safety in women’s sports, the WNBA, inclusion and who should be responsible for creating the rules moving forward.
The Aunties also revisit the conversation surrounding Tuskegee University and campus attire, including bonnets, durags and pajamas. Is banning them about creating a standard of excellence, or does it risk policing Black culture?
Plus, the ladies discuss social media, Black culture, performative success, trauma responses, entrepreneurship, boundaries, relationships and much more.
And Kim leaves the Aunties with an affirmation worth remembering:
“I do hard things well.”
