design principles. days,"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":188.53,"endTime":192.25,"body":"I don't recall, but I was involved in delivering that"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":192.25,"endTime":192.73,"body":"training."},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":192.88,"endTime":196.09,"body":"I feel like I've always had this interest in instructor at a college here in the"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":204.91,"endTime":208.63,"body":"early nineties and then I did a lot of for."},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":211.78,"endTime":214.3,"body":"And a lot of that involved trying to help people"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":214.3,"endTime":217.42,"body":"understand how to use the software in some shape or"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":217.42,"endTime":217.9,"body":"form."},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":217.93,"endTime":221.44,"body":"I've almost always been involved in delivering training in some"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":221.44,"endTime":224.83,"body":"capacity, but it wasn't until seven years ago maybe that"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":224.83,"endTime":227.53,"body":"someone said to me, have you ever thought about instructional"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":227.53,"endTime":229.4,"body":"design, and I really hadn't."},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":229.42,"endTime":232.75,"body":"So I started to look at what instructional design involved,"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":233.2,"endTime":236.14,"body":"and interestingly, in my mind, I thought it involved design."},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":236.44,"endTime":239.5,"body":"It's hard to sometimes describe what instructional design is because"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":239.5,"endTime":242.23,"body":"it's so much more than the design element."},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":242.65,"endTime":244.75,"body":"But I pursued an interest in it because of the"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":244.75,"endTime":245.41,"body":"design element."},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":245.41,"endTime":247.99,"body":"I was interested in how to make things more engaging,"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":247.99,"endTime":251.08,"body":"more interesting, more appealing for a learner."},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":251.08,"endTime":254.32,"body":"And someone suggested UMass and I applied, and next thing"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":254.32,"endTime":257.29,"body":"you know, I learned about what instructional design really is,"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":257.29,"endTime":260.5,"body":"which was probably fairly different from what I envisioned it"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":260.5,"endTime":260.859,"body":"to be."},{"speaker":"REBECCA","startTime":262.17,"endTime":265.77,"body":"So I'm curious, how do you describe what instructional meet that objective, given the current"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":371.73,"endTime":375.54,"body":"resources we have, given the information that we want to"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":375.54,"endTime":379.98,"body":"be distributed or channeled down to everybody in the company?"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":379.98,"endTime":382.32,"body":"When the company is large enough, you may have senior"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":382.32,"endTime":384.24,"body":"leaders who have an idea of what they want how to help them become better at their"},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":434.01,"endTime":435.9,"body":"role and hopefully become future leaders."},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":436.26,"endTime":440.16,"body":"So mentorship programs, inclusion and diversity is a big become more inclusive, more diverse, more innovative."},{"speaker":"JEAN","startTime":448.53,"endTime":451.47,"body":"The range of skill sets that we offer is
