The other is the connection worldview of Genesis 1–2, the reality Moses was trying to restore in a people formed by empire, slavery, and fear.
They trace how the wound of separation begins with a simple lie: there is not enough. Scarcity then demands certainty, certainty demands perfection, and perfection collapses into self-protection and a false identity. Time becomes an idol. God becomes a victim of the clock. Failure becomes an identity. Neighbors become rivals. Creation becomes something to hoard.
The connection worldview tells a different story. There is enough for everyone to have enough. Distinction is not isolation. Boundaries are not walls. Mystery is not a threat—it is the invitation. Failure is not a verdict; it is how we learn. Identity is received, not manufactured. Love of God, self, neighbor, and the earth belong together.
Drawing on Genesis, the manna story, nature, history, and everyday life—from elite kindergarten interviews to lions on the savanna—Jamie and Donna show why so many identity teachings never stick, and what has to shift first: the lens.
This is not a prosperity gospel and not a call to passivity. It is an invitation to live in what has always been true: we are distinct and connected, held by a God who is not running out of time, love, or provision.
