The Vegas Golden Knights (25-14-14) stormed back from a three-goal third period deficit before falling to the Dallas Stars (31-14-9), 5-4, in a shootout on Thursday night at T-Mobile Arena.
Vegas trailed 4-1 heading into the third period before mounting a late rally. Reilly Smith jump-started the comeback with a short-handed goal early in the final frame, followed by Ivan Barbashev’s tally from the high slot to pull the Golden Knights within one. Mitch Marner tied the game with a long-range wrist shot after Tomas Hertl won a faceoff to force overtime. Neither team scored in the extra session, and Jason Robertson opened the shootout scoring in the first round before Mikko Rantanen netted the game-winner in the third round to lift Dallas to the win.
