Show Notes

It takes a certain kind of temperament - not to mention plenty of driving skill and local knowledge - to become a taxi driver in Switzerland. With professional transportation services always in demand, could it be your next career move?

The training program at Fahrschule SULI Zürich takes you through the entire Professional Passenger Transport BPT 121 certification process. The course ensures you meet the required standards of practice and theory knowledge to provide safe transportation services for the general public.

If you're at least 19 years old and have kept a clean driving record in category B (vehicles weighing no more than 3,500 kg) for at least one year, you're eligible to take the course and apply for taxi certification. Fahrschule SULI Zürich can advise you on every phase of the BPT 121 process including the identification documents required, medical suitability, and the advanced driving theory and practice requirements for public transportation providers.

If you want to attain taxi certification, you must pass an advanced theory test which differs significantly from standard driving theory examinations. A spokesperson says, “It covers questions on topics such as legally prescribed rest and working times, etc. Of course, our training professionals will offer you every possible support in this area too.”

The test has two parts - multiple choice questions and video clips to assess your hazard perception. Topics include health and safety, road procedures, customer care, mechanical knowledge, transporting vulnerable passengers, and safe vehicle loading alongside standard theory elements like traffic signs and signals. A minimum score of 135 out of a possible 150 is required. If you fail, you can resit the test but must pay the 45 CH fee again.

Fahrschule SULI Zürich explains you must also complete a permit application and pass an eyesight test at a registered optician or ophthalmologist. Forms must be submitted in person to the road traffic licensing office along with a color passport photograph and your ID.

Once submitted, you'll receive a health check request to be completed by a doctor of your choice who will forward the results to the road traffic office. A fee is also payable for this aspect of the application.

After the theory test, you undertake the practical driving exam that tests and assesses more than just vehicle control skills but also how calmly and comfortably you perform in traffic.

In addition to its taxi driver certification solutions, Fahrschule SULI Zürich also offers you standard driving lessons, first aid courses, and control drive services.

If you want to start earning a living on the roads – swiftly and safely - work with Fahrschule SULI Zürich!
