He served as head of Australia's National Resilience Taskforce, within the Department of Home Affairs, was the Director-General of Emergency Management Australia, and was the Commissioner for the Australian Capital Territory’s Emergency Services Agency responsible for the territory’s Fire Brigade, Ambulance Service, Rural Fire Service and State Emergency Service.

Mark Crosweller has been awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal, the National Medal and the New South Wales Rural Fire Service Commissioner's Commendation. After this long career at the peak of crisis management roles in Australian government Mark is now the founder and director of Ethical Intelligence a leadership development consultancy which advocates compassion, courage, purpose, and meaning in organisational leadership.
