Summary

In Chapter Nineteen Corwyn finds surprising confederates who are reluctantly willing to betray Black and help her escape his island. However, once she reaches Virginia she discovers her brother Ben resigned his commission months ago to search for her. Ben, meanwhile, still brutally enslaved on the cane plantation, is falling in love with the captured Native American girl who has so carefully tended his wounds. He sees no way at all for either of them to survive this tropical hell.
