Living Through the Word

For Holy Week this year we are sharing with you Biblical reflections on the daily lectionary readings. Please share these with everyone you know who would benefit from more about Jesus, who bore all our sin in His finished work on the cross.

On this Good Friday, the Rt. Rev. Marc Steele, suffragan bishop of the Anglican Diocese of the Living Word, shares a reflection on the meaning of "It is finished."

“After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture), 'I thirst.' A jar full of sour wine stood there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth. When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, 'It is finished,' and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”
