Starting with France, new median separation rates by sector subdivision for the bonus-malus unemployment insurance system have taken effect from March 1, 2026, through February 28, 2027. The revised calculation excludes contracts longer than three months, seasonal contracts, and certain dismissals. Notably, the bonus-malus system no longer applies to the Woodwork, Paper, and Printing Industries sector. Employers must apply these updated rates and definitions to ensure compliance and accurately calculate contributions.

Also in France, a new procedural requirement mandates a 50 euro contribution payable via an online fiscal stamp when filing civil procedures in first instance courts or labor tribunals. This contribution must be attached as proof to the case file and remains valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.

In Germany, the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority, BaFin, has issued a public warning regarding the website unzerfinanzpro.de. BaFin suspects this website of conducting unauthorized banking business and clarified that it is not affiliated with the legitimate company Unzer E-Com GmbH. Consumers are advised to avoid engaging with this unauthorized website.

Also in Germany, ArjoHuntleigh AB has issued an urgent field safety notice concerning Tenor lifts without scale. A manufacturing defect in the lifting actuators may cause sudden actuator collapse, posing a serious safety risk of rapid uncontrolled downward movement. Immediate removal of affected Tenor lifts from service is mandatory until the actuators are replaced by Arjo service technicians. Use of these devices for patient handling is prohibited until corrected, and customers must complete and return the response form to Arjo.

Turning to the International Health Regulations, the World Health Organization’s International Health Regulations Emergency Committee has extended Temporary Recommendations regarding poliovirus for an additional three months effective March 1, 2026. The poliovirus situation remains a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. Amendments to the International Health Regulations, effective since September 19, 2025, require broader poliovirus notification and vaccination documentation. Affected states must declare polio transmission as a national public health emergency and ensure vaccination of all residents and long-term visitors with bOPV or IPV before international travel.

Finally, in France, new rules for furnished tourist rentals have been introduced. The micro-BIC threshold for classified furnished tourist rentals increases to €83,600 in 2026. Mandatory prior registration of the rental activity with local authorities is required nationwide by May 20, 2026. Mayors have the authority to suspend registration numbers and require platforms to remove listings for unsanitary housing. Property owners must declare their activity to obtain a SIRET number within 15 days of starting and must not rent their primary residence for more than 120 days per year.
