Hymn Stories

IN THIS EPISODE: "From Greenland's Icy Mountains" by Reginald Heber (1783-1826)

This hymn, while very popular for some time, has vanished from many modern hymnals. It is now considered a period piece by many. Not only are some of the geographical references outdated, but some see in it imperialism and racial overtones. I don’t. I see a burning heart for the glory of God among the nations.

Show Notes:
  • "Paid Respects" by BP Moore
  • "Missionary Hymn" by The Sturbridge Singers
  • "Beyond the Willow Tree" by Holly Jones
