Valerie Haring is a life-long resident of Kansas. She began her career at Butler Community College as an art student. After earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education, she began teaching in an adjunct capacity at Butler. When Lynn Havel retired , Haring became Chair of the Art Department and Director of the Erman B. White Gallery. In 2021, Haring served as Interim Dean of the fine arts, a position that became full-time after one semester.
