WJFF - Trailer Talk

Sabrina continues her series about development and asks, What does a sustainable Sullivan County, NY look like and why is it vital for a healthy community? In this episode Sabrina explores the heated issue of the proposed Village of Ateres in her neighborhood.

Why is NY Governor Hochul exempting it? What can people do? Has this process been fair? Sabrina is joined by returning guest Jennifer Grossman an environmental lawyer working on land use issues and Perry Ochacher, a NY State lobbyist who has been retained to work on this issue by Catskill Mountainkeeper, an environmental organization charged with protecting the Catskill region.

What does it mean to belong to and have a connection to a place? This conversation reveals some of the strategies being used to protect what is valued.

What is WJFF - Trailer Talk?

Sabrina Artel's Trailer Talk is a combination of live performance, community event and radio broadcast based in the New York's Catskills region. With her vintage 1965 Beeline travel trailer, Sabrina Arteltravels to festivals and events where she invites individuals to participate in what she calls a "public conversation" in a relaxed and comfortable setting. These conversations are broadcast live through speakers mounted outside the trailer, and many interviews are later aired on WJFF during the weekly program. The New York Times described Sabrina Artel's Trailer Talk as "an unusual blend of theater, activism and broadcast journalism."
