John Stott famously explained that love without truth is too soft and truth without love is too hard. We need truth contextualized in love. That’s how the Gospel is best represented and communicated. It’s one thing to tell a person that God loves them. It’s another to plainly explain how they might love Him too. Loving others with the sacrificial love of Jesus is the only way to love at all and our greatest barometer of God’s love in us. And according to Jesus, we have to remain connected in Him in order to do any of it. Apart from Jesus (John 15:5), we can do nothing. So, are you connected to Jesus? Have you received His good gift of salvation? You’ll know it and we’ll know it by your love.
