Ep. 40 Lamont Roach Jr. (24-1-1, 9 KO's) a Washington, D.C. native and the WBA Super Featherweight Champ, joins Coach J on The Empire Boxing Podcast. Lamont made his pro boxing debut with Golden Boy Promotions in 2014. He was a decorated amateur with a record of 125-15, winning gold medals at the National Golden Gloves, USA Boxing Youth Nationals, a national PAL Championship and 5 Ringside World Championships. On top of a busy amateur career and early pro career Lamont also pursued and completed a Mechanical Engineering degree from Maryland.

Lamont talks about his competitive spirit as a youth and how that competitive drive runs through his family with his sister being a surgeon and his brother an up and coming boxer as well. Lamont's first love was football but eventually he transitioned over to boxing in high school as he started focusing more on it. Lamont talks about his family, his relationship with his Dad who is his trainer, Jake Paul's contribution to boxing, his early fights with Gervontea Davis and his thoughts on where the sport is going.
