सुकन्यया निर्मितः आमलकीप्राशः

राज्ञः शयार्तेः तनया सुन्दरी मनोहारिणी च । तनया सुकन्या शापग्रस्तानां सैनिकानां हिताय च्यवनमहर्षिं परिणीय तस्य सेवायै लग्ना असीत् । एकदा अश्विनीकुमारौ ऋषिसेवारतायाः सुकन्यायाः सौन्दर्यम् अवलोक्य 'एतं वृद्धं विहाय आवयोः अन्यतरं वृष्णीष्व' इति उक्तवन्तौ । तन्निराकरोति सुकन्या । तां पतिव्रतां विज्ञाय अश्विनीकुमारौ प्रसन्नौ भूत्वा आमलकीप्राशननिर्माणविधिं कथयामासतुः । तस्य सेवनेन ऋषिः च्यवनः न केवलं विगतविकारः अभवत् अपि च युवा अपि बभूव । ततः आमलकीप्राशः 'च्यवनप्राश' नाम्ना प्रसिद्धः अभवत् ।

The beautiful and enchanting daughter of King Shayarata, Sukanya, married the sage Chyavana for the welfare of the cursed soldiers. One day, while engaged in the service of the sage, the Ashwini Kumaras, upon seeing the beauty of Sukanya, said to her, 'Leave this old man and choose one of us'. Sukanya refused. Recognizing her fidelity, the Ashwini Kumaras were pleased and revealed the method to prepare Amalaki Prashana. By consuming it, Sage Chyavana not only regained his health but also became young again. Hence, Amalaki Prashana became famous as 'Chyawanprash’. This story highlights the virtues of devotion, loyalty and the transformative power of ancient knowledge and herbs.

सम्भाषणसन्देशः इति संस्कृतमासिकपत्रिका (https://sambhashanasandesha.in) । एतस्यां पत्रिकायां प्रकाशिताः लेखाः, कथाः, बालकथाः, वार्ताः इत्यादिकं सर्वम् अपि सरलसंस्कृतेन एव प्रकाश्यते । तत्रत्याः “बालमोदिनी”नामिकाः बालकथाः अत्र प्रसार्यन्ते । अतः अस्याः शृङ्खलायाः नाम अपि “बालमोदिनी” एव । लघु गात्रं, सरला भाषा च कथानां विशेषः । प्रत्येकं कथा काञ्चित् नीतिं बोधयति । बालकथाः आबालवृद्धं सर्वेषां प्रियाः । संस्कृतेन ताः श्रोतुम् उपलब्धाः भवन्तु इति एषः प्रयत्नः श्रोतृभ्यः अवश्यं रोचेत इति विश्वासः । संस्कृतक्षेत्रे संस्कृतेन पॉड्कास्ट् क्रियमाणाः एताः प्रप्रथमाः कथाः इति सगौरवम् उद्घोष्यते ।
